Jack-o-Lantern Tips

  • Choose healthy pumpkins with strong stems. If you damage the stem the pumpkin will not last as long.
  • Soak your pumpkin in a tub of icy water to firm up the flesh both before and after carving.
  • Put petroleum jelly on the cut edges of the pumpkin so they won't shrivel or dry out.
  • Cut the bottom off of the pumpkin instead of the top to clean out the seeds:
    1. You'll never have a wobbly pumpkin again.
    2. Say good-bye to burned fingers.
    3. Just set the pumpkin over the light source.
    4. No more frustrations from trying to get the lid back on right.
    5. The lid will never fall inside the pumpkin again.
