sunday reflections:

:: relief society :: the true and living church
president henry b. eyring

this is the true church. the only true church. because in it are the keys of the priesthood. this is the living church because we are living the gospel: keeping the commandments and our covenants and serving our fellow man throughout the world.

:: sunday school :: alma 32-35

alma 32:16 . therefore blessed are they who humble themselves without being compelled to be humble... meekness is voluntary humility. are you sufficiently humble... if you answer yes. you are not.

faith vs. belief faith is of the heart . is active . and relies on intuition. belief is of the mind . is passive . relies on reason.

the gospel is not a spectator sport.

:: sacrament meeting ::

sister moffat: in order to build our testimonies we need god and the good examples of each other.

brother gilbert: the persecution that followed the prophet joseph smith bears record of the truthfulness of the gospel.

sister schmutz: even though i have a rich pioneer heritage going back to the beginnings of the restored church. and was brought up knowing the gospel. my conversion happened during my 16th year when i was studying the gospel as an at.home seminary student. i was overcome by the power of darkness and told my mother of the experience. she told me to do as jospeh smith had done. i prayed. the power of darkness left me and i knew the gospel was truth through the power of the holy ghost.

brother pope: joseph smith.s preparation to be a prophet. he was born and raised in a righteous family who believed in the bible. his mother believed that joining any church would be better than no church. his father believed joining no church would be better than the wrong church. jospeh wanted to know which church to join and went to the lord to ask...

jospeh smith sealed his testimonly with his blood: the work cannot go forward until i am gone.

Lyn, I remembered your saying that you read the entire talks that are referenced in the Joseph Smith manual (like, the church history references). Where can I find them?

Katherine -

If I can't find it on LDS.org, I will start by googling the title, reference, or even some of the words. If that doesn't work then I have to try to locate the original source. I do have a set of the "Church History" books which contain the majority of the references for the Joseph Smith lessons. If you don't have those books, it would be a great investment...

I think you are referring to the time I read the King Follett Sermon given by Joseph Smith. I found that through a Google search.

I hope that helps...

Any word on employment yet? I can't believe that school starts here in less than a month [Aug. 18]!!
