children need strong values:for the strength of youth/true to the faith the word of wisdom is the easiest tool for satan to use. coffee and tea have new names and faces today. energy drinks are a great favorite of youth. yet we don't know everything that is in them except very high levels of caffeine. if you get run down. instead of resorting to energy drinks. get adequate sleep . exercise . and eat well. missionaries say the biggest problem for both young women and young men in the church is pornography and morality. talk to your kids. teach them the gospel in your home. gather around your family table to listen . learn . and share. know what your children are doing on computers and cell phones.

there is a world.wide assault on the family and satan is behind it. the family. a proclamation to the world was written before the onslaught of the family. we need to adhere to the principles and truths we find in it to protect our families. our homes need to be a haven from the bad things from high places.they should be a refuge where the spirit can dwell. our homes should be as sacred as the temple.

people are not always kind to those who are different. those who are different need our help and understanding there can be a great deal of discomfort for those in the church who do not measure up to the norms: divorced . not serving a mission . older but not married . . not having children . etc.
these people can feel guilty or inferior. the solution is not rebuke or to lower the standards, but to love one another. we are all lost sheep . we are all different . and the ideal is not always attainable right now. we need to have compassion for those who are different. when they published the new children.s songbook in 1987 there was a need for a song of compassion:

if you don.t walk as most people do. some people walk away from you.
but i won.t. i won.t
if you don.t talk as most people do. some people talk and laugh at you.
but i won.t. i won.t.

our heavenly father.s plan of salvation is real while satan.s plan is counterfeit. we need to do all we can to decern what is real and what is counterfeit in our lives.we need to ask ourselves: is this real... does this really matter... are this person.s intentions pure...
satan can never have a family and he wants yours. john 14:6 - jesus saith unto him. i am the way . the truth and the light. no man cometh unto the father but by me. we need to choose not to play the world.s game. but instead choose to read the scriptures . pray. and pay our tithing.

the church can grow to any size. and yet it is still the same size where it is important: the family . the ward . and the stake. many personal interviews with the general authorities are now handled via a video conference. but if priesthood authority is conferred. it must be done in person.
any member of the melchizedek priesthood holds the same priesthood as president monson. the president of the church just has a different assignment than the rest. the melchizedek priesthood doesn.t come in pieces. it is all or nothing. the adversary is more active and more successful than he has ever been. joseph smith said: anybody who has a body can have power over those who do not. satan wants your body and mind. don.t give it to him. when you have the gift of the holy ghost. you are always warned first. but then you can do what you want. fear is the opposite of faith... do not be afraid.

testimony: this is the true church of christ on the earth. there is a prophet of god on the earth - thomas s. monson. he focuses on the one. yet has a clear vision of the world.wide church. he holds the same keys of authority as joseph smith.
we in the church are all united in our faith in jesus chirst. decide today to go on a mission. don.t underestimate your potential. read the scriptures and preach my gospel . ponder . and pray. invite the less active back lovingly. invite non.members and be a friend.
invite the spirit to teach you everything you must do to increase your faith and that of your family. listen to the spirit today and be guided. use your time wisely and set spiritual goals. evaluate what needs to be done in your life to change for the better. heavenly father wants us to succeed. be not ashamed of the gospel of jesus christ. share your testimony with your children . your grandchildren . and your spouse. labor for your conversion and for the conversion of your loved ones.
three things we should do:
1. have a current temple recommend [ctr].
2. study the word of god daily . ponder what needs to be resolved.
3. speak with your father in heaven daily.
