:: sunday school :: alma 36-39
these chapters are very much like the parable of the talents: alma.s sons [helaman . shiblom. corianton] use what they have been given in different ways...

alma does not disown corianton. he loves him and wants to save him.alma explains the plan of salvation to his son and lets him know that there are only two sins that cannot be forgiven: receiving the holy ghost and then denying him and the shedding of innocent blood.

satan knew god and heaven and denied them.

:: sacrament meeting ::
testimonies
brother davis: the lord will run these meetings if we will let him. you know when you need to bear testimony and when you don.t. we feel the spirit here because we love one another.
sister arnson: when someone asks you questions about the gospel like: is there a god. bear your testimony instead of answering: well, yeah.
brother henry: bearing your testimony drives your understanding of the gospel deep.
sister christensen: when you find yourself in a hole. stop digging.
brother morgan: we need to watch out for each other and offer strength to each other.
brother smith: joseph smith bore witness of satan as well as the father and his son. no one is exempt from satan.s power. we all need the savior.

the bishopric will offend 20 percent of the people in one year. that is why they only keep them 5 years...

:: a story for friendship day ::

two frogs

a group of frogs were traveling through the woods and two of them fell into a deep pit. when the other frogs saw how deep the pit was they told the two frogs that they were as good as dead. the two frogs ignored the comments and tried to jump out of the pit with all their might. the other frogs kept telling them to stop. that they were as good as dead. finally one of the frogs took heed to what the other frogs were saying and gave up. he fell down and died.
::

the other frog continued to jump as hard as he could. once again the crowd of frogs yelled at him to stop the pain and just die. he jumped even harder and finally made it out. when he go out the other frogs said: did you not hear us... the frog explained to them that he was deaf. he thought they were encouraging him the entire time.

there is power of life and death in the tongue. an encouraging word to someone who is down can lift them up and help them make it through the day. so be careful what you say. speak life to those who cross your path. the power of words... it is sometimes hard to understand that and encouraging word can go such a long way. anyone can speak words that tend to rob another of the spirit to continue in difficult times. special is the individual who will take time to encourage another.
