and thou shalt not command him who is at the head. and at the head of the church. for i have given him the keys of the mysteries. and the revelations which are sealed. until i shall appoint unto them another in his stead... for all things mut be done in order. and by common consent in the church. by the prayer of faith. [d&c 28]
we operate by common consent becaue that iw what god has told us to do. it provides us with an opportunity to choose. which is essential for our progression.
when we raise our hand to sustain someone. it is ourselves that are in the balance. not who we are sustaining. sustaining has a far greater and more profound nature in church than mere voting. it.s not so much a question of voting for a choice as pledging ourselves to action in support of revelation.
:: sunday school :: helaman 6-12 . the pride cycle [written for us...]
humility and repentance lead to righteousness and prosperity. righteousness and prosperity lead to pride and wickedness. pride and wickedness lead to destruction and suffering. destruction and suffering lead to humility and repentance... also read: beware of pride [ezra taft bensen] . here
:: sacrament meeting :: matthew 17:21
howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.
prayer and fasting will help us if we believe all things are possible. christ's ability to perform miracles did not rest upon him as a person. but on his own belief. and straightway the father of the child cried out and said with tears. lord. i believe. help thou mine unbelief. [mark 9:24] in the sacred grove. joseph smith prayed and obeyed. inspiration can come to any of us. listen to the holy ghost. blessed are they that hear the word of god and keep it. [luke 11: 28 ] sometimes we don't have miracles because of our lack of faith. we are going to have to have family prayer more than once a day if we are going to save our families...
