TFOT: To Acquire Spiritual Guidance - Elder Richard G. Scott

Were you to receive spiritual guidance just for the asking, wyou would become weak and ever more dependent.
Spirituality yields to fruits. The first is inspiration to know what to do. The second is power, or the capacity to do it.
God answers prayer and gives us spiritual direction when we live obediently and exercise the required faith in Him.
It's never a waste of time to serve Heavenly Father.
Satan is extremely good at blocking spiritual communication by inducing individuals, through temptation, to violate the laws upon which spiritual communication is founded.
Children learn more when you are having fun with them.
When we take the Sacrament, we take upon us the name of Christ which means we will be doing everything in our lives as if Christ were doing it.

The Creation

There are three accounts of the Creation: Abraham, Moses, and Genesis.
Moses saw the power of God. He also saw Satan and knew he was not a God. He had to overcome Satan.
We won't be ready to be Gods, yet, when we are resurrected.
Seven Days of Creation:

1. Matter organized; darkness and light
2. Water; Firmament
3. Dry land; Plants
4. Sun; Moon; Stars
5. Fish; Fowl
6. Animals; Man
7. Rest
Science and Religion will never look at the creation the same because science in a method, not and understanding Science does not look for the truth; it is always open to change.

Thoughts from Talks
We are a covenant people. We (covenantees) have made covenants with God (covenantor).
To keep our covenants, we must make good choices. God can't make our choices for us.
Our choices effect us as well as others. Private choices are not private - they have public consequences.
Be keenly aware of our obligations as a covenant people.

Having a place to to is home.
Having someone to love is family.
Having both is a blessing.
We don't need to know and understand everything about technology to use it. God works the same way.
We can't skip the steps of learning.

Elder Scott: "My dear wife died over eight years ago, and I love her even more today."
I've learned more about marriage in the two years since my wife has been gone than in the 38 years we were together. I am so greatful for eternal marriage.
