Canada Day

July 1 in the Provinces is like July 4 in the States...

Canada became self-governing 141 years ago today. They
celebrate just like we do with parades, picnics, and
parties with family and friends. And they don't
have to worry much about fires when they
shoot off their fireworks because of all
the rain and snow they have...

O Canada became Canada's official National
Anthem on July 1, 1980. exactly 100 years
after it was sung for the first time:

O Canada!
our home and native land.
True patriot love in all thy sons command.

With glowing hearts we see thee rise.
The true North strong and free.

From far and wide.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

God keep our land glorious and free.
O canada, we stand on guard for thee.

O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

[and I'm not even Canadian...]
