Presidency Message:
From "Born Again" by Elder D. Todd Christofferson 5/08
Entry into the kingdom of God requires the one be born again--born of water and of the Spirit.
Our spiritual rebirth comes about through a team effort with our Heavenly Father after our physical and spiritual baptisms. This process of rebirth is most often an on-going process involving lots of patience, not a miraculous happening such as Alma the Younger.
We cannot be casual in our efforts for spiritua rebirth.
:: Sunday School :: D&C 1
This section contains the words of the Savior given as the preface to the Book of Commandments. The Doctriine and Covenants is for ALL. It was written "to" us, while the book of Mormon was written "for" us.
In order for all of us, as unique individuals, to benefit from studying the themes of the Doctrine and Covenants, we must rely on the Holy Ghost to teach us, we need have "conversations" with those who were there at the time these revelations were given such as Joseph Smith, and learn from the prophets since those times. A helpful resource for what the prophets have said about the scriptures in the D&C can be found at www.scriptures.byu.edu. It will greatly help us to understand the Doctrine and Covenants if we know what was happening in Chruch History when each of the revelations was given.
